Electrical and Electronics department is a division of Global Core E&E at Volvo Construction Equipment. We design the Software solutions of the future machines with the purpose of making them more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Embedded Software Product Owner Role Description!

- Your job is delivering amazing SW product that delight customers. You live and breathe the product. You are responsible for defining SW product roadmap and prioritizing backlog while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the SW Gateway. You are always looking for ways to improve a product or service to make it better, faster and more user friendly.

- Business savvy is important for the product owner because he or she is the decision maker regarding what features the product will have and when. That means, the PO should understand the market, the customer/stakeholders and the business in order to make sound decisions.

- Communication is a large part of the product owner responsibilities. The product owner role requires working closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization and beyond, so he or she must be able to communicate different messages to different people about the project at any given time.

- You would make significant contribution to Gateway SW Product joining a team of highly skilled and well organized product development team with colleagues in various parts of the world including India, Sweden, Germany, France, China etc.

- The product owner role requires an individual with certain skills and traits, including availability, business savvy and communication skills. First, the product owner needs to be available to his or her team. The best product owners show commitment by doing whatever is necessary to build the best product possible - and that means being actively engaged with their teams.

- The position holder will report to Group Manager, Project Management & System Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Be globally responsible for the Software Product (SW Gateway).

- One point of Contact globally for the SW Gateway Product.

- Be globally responsible for the functionality and quality of the SW Product.

- Support Software product development performed at all sites.

- Have responsibility for the Software Product functional platform.

- Be responsible for the functional platform related to the Software Product, i.e. multi machines usage of Gateway Product.

- Make sure that the architecture; modules etc. are used in the correct way.

- Balance the different solutions so that product variability is held to a minimum. I.e. Ensuring things end up in the right backlog/SW part (common or business specific).

- Have responsibility of the Software Product Quality work.

- Update and maintain a globally anchored SW Product Roadmap.

- Built upon the SW product Roadmaps for the SW gateway Product in Short and long term.

- Update and maintain a SW Release plan.

- Act as globally responsible of the Gateway Software Product in different forums

- Participate in Crossfuntional regular meetings with Engine/Transmission/Telematics etc.

- Participate in Monthly Meetings with Product platforms (WLO/PAV/EXC etc.)

- Participate in discussions with customer and stakeholders about technical choices and functionality.

AUTHORITIES :

- Drive the SW Gateway product roadmap for upcoming years for local and Global needs.

- Prioritize and manage requests from different Product platforms for the SW Gateway.

- Handles & Owns Budget and being POC for SW Gateway Products.

- Approval of product documentation such as SW Requirement Specification, SW Version Description documents, Own and drive Product time plans.

- Approve the deviations from SW process implementation, as applicable.

- Drive changes in the product in order to increase quality, performance and to meet new platform requirements.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES :

- 8-12 years- experience in the embedded software area.

- Experienced at working in a global organization with cross functional interaction.

- Systematic, analytic, pro-active and open minded.

- High customer and business focus.

- Excellent communication skill in English, both written and spoken.

- Good understanding of Project Management concepts.

- Good knowledge of system development and software development.

- BE/M.tech in Computer Science or Electronics or Electrical Engineering or similar specialization.

- Working knowledge on communication Protocols - UDS 14229, J1939, J1850 etc.

- Genuine interest and passion in automotive domain.

- Knowledge of Software Product Management.

GOOD TO HAVE : PMP certification.
